The plan to put RFID tags in passports is coming under fire from various privacy groups.
The government's solution? Don't call them RFID tags, call them "contactless smart card technology". One group managed to detect the RFID signal from several feet away, but the government said that they couldn't read any data. Sounds like they still have a good start on a wireless American detector.
But what do I know? I'm obviously not all knowing and perfect like our government.
